Shops In And Around Marbella
As with all therapies, it is not necessarily the therapy itself which will work, a lot has to do
with the surroundings where the therapy takes place – retail therapy is always successful in Marbella.
Marbella and the Costa del Sol in general, is a ‘shopaholic’s’ paradise!
So, we have picked out a few of the better known places, also with easy access and parking facilities so
as to give you a head start and make your retail therapy a guaranteed success!
The best part is that as a golden rule for our selection below, all shops are open from 10:00 – 22:00 hrs.
Monday – Saturday, with the exception of July & August when some of them are open until Midnight and on
Sundays! (This applies especially to the Malls and shops within Puerto Banús). Shops
outside of the malls i.e. High Street, are open from 10:00 – 14:00 and from 16:30 – 20:00 hrs.
Larger supermarkets, the likes of Mercadona & Supersol are open from 09:00 – 21:00 hrs.
GETTING IT RIGHT
Shopping should be fun, without hassle and not resulting in having bought the ‘wrong size’ simply
because you believe that your eye is true when assessing the size of an item, without trying it on.
Avoid unnecessary frustration and return visits to exchange an item, only to be faced with the
possibility that your size ‘was already’ sold! With our quick overview of sizes, which are
specified differently in the UK / Ireland and Continental Europe, you will find yourself well equipped
for a successful shopping spree!

BROWSE Á LA OPEN AIR
Local Markets, locally known as ‘El Rastro’ or ‘Mercadillo’, are THE HIT on the Costa del Sol! Some may know the term Flea Marketor Car Boot Sale, but what you get on these markets definitely does not reflect the Flea Market’s or for that matter the origin of the Car Boot Sale! More Up-Market than Flea Market! They are not only present during high season, but all year round, making them very popular for the locals as well as the holidaymaker. Even as locals we are not always so sure which town holds a market on which day! So, this little section aims to precisely clarify that point! Categorized by the days of the week to simplify your planning!
General ‘opening hours’: 08:00 – 14:30 (whereas it takes at least an hour to have a very brief look around, so if you don’t want the vendors to be packing up their merchandise simply because they are sold out, then we recommend to start your ‘window shopping’ by 11:00 and make it a day out)
There is a special summer market in the main plaza of Puerto Banús during the months of July & August, from 10:00 - late. All day, every day and everything anyone would wish for! Absolutely intoxicating diversity! A wonderful way to enjoy the flair and class of Puerto Banús during the sunny days, or the mellow summer nights.
